The emergence and development of Ocean Bottom Cable (OBC)** exploration has provided a technical means to obtain high-quality seismic data in shallow water and obstacle areas where seismic towlines cannot be constructed, and laid a necessary technical foundation for completing geological tasks of oil and gas exploration and development with high precision and monitoring tasks of oil and gas reservoir exploitation.
However, in OBC data collection, since both the bottom and the surface of the sea are highly reflective interfaces, a seismic wavelet excited by the source reaches the bottom of the sea from the source location, or a reflection wavelet reaches the bottom of the sea from the ground. The geophone in the submarine cable induces and records this reflection wavelet. The reflected wavelet continues up to the surface, is reflected off the surface, and then changes direction and travels down to the bottom of the ocean. The seismometer in the submarine cable, once again, senses and records the seismic wavelet, which is reflected by the seabed and then propagates upward to reach the sea surface, which is reflected by the sea surface, then propagates downward to reach the sea bottom, and so on. And the secondary and subsequent arrival of these original reflected seismic wavelet is the multiple waves (cross mixed reverberations) of the sea. The multiple sounding waves of seawater are the noise interference of ** in offshore seismic exploration data. The difficulty of OBC seismic technique lies in its inability to suppress the multiple waves such as the sound of sea water effectively.
In the late 1980s, it was proposed to use dual-detector reception technology to remove multiple wave interference in seabed exploration, that is, land geophone * seismic data and water geophone seismic data at the same position were recorded by land geophone and water geophone respectively. Land geophone is a mass point velocity geophone, which records the change of mass point velocity. An underwater geophone is a pressure geophone that records changes in pressure caused by seismic waves.
